Chocolate Multipacks: Price per Bar Calculator
Calculate multipack price per bar, per piece and per 100g, while checking mini sizes, piece count, wrapping, allergens and waste.
Quick answer: For a multipack, calculate three values: checkout price ÷ labelled pieces, checkout price ÷ total grams × 100, and total grams ÷ pieces. The third number reveals the average piece weight, which prevents a mini from being compared with a full bar as if both were equal.

Use the count and weight printed on the exact pack. Marketing words such as “value,” “mini” or “family” are not calculations.
Worked example without a fixed product quote
Use current pack price ÷ total grams × 100 to compare cost per 100g. For a multipack, divide by the labelled piece count to compare cost per piece.
For mixed assortments, check whether every piece has the same weight. If not, price per piece is useful for headcount but price per 100g is the fairer product-value comparison.
Count usable pieces, not theoretical pieces
Allergen restrictions, disliked flavours or damaged wrappers reduce usable value. A 35-piece pack is not a saving for a ten-person event if most pieces remain unserved and cannot be stored well. Individually wrapped pieces help distribution, but every wrapper still needs a readable allergen source.

Record the comparison date
Imported confectionery prices can move with stock, shipment cost and promotions. Save product name, exact variant, date, total grams, piece count, checkout price and each formula result. This makes a later comparison auditable instead of relying on memory.
- Check whether every piece is individually wrapped.
- Inspect seals and date information on arrival.
- Store according to the pack direction.
- Do not present an old calculated price as today's price.
A larger pack can cost less per piece and more per gram
Use current pack price ÷ total grams × 100 to compare cost per 100g. For a multipack, divide by the labelled piece count to compare cost per piece.
The second offer gives more pieces and a lower cost per person when each person receives one, but less chocolate for more money. For twelve separate gifts, the number of sealed pieces may matter more than grams. For baking by weight, compare price per 100g and check that the chocolate type suits the recipe.

Use current pack price ÷ total grams × 100 to compare cost per 100g. For a multipack, divide by the labelled piece count to compare cost per piece.
